On August 8th, 2024,
One of our trucks operating on a recycling route in Sam's Valley experienced a fire in the hopper
of the truck. We are relieved to report that our driver is safe and acted promptly and appropriately to handle the situation.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the local authorities and emergency responders who arrived promptly on the scene and provided their assistance.
This incident serves as a crucial reminder about the importance of being mindful of what is placed in your garbage and recycling carts. Please take the time to confirm what materials your local hauler accepts for curbside services before placing items in your cart.
In particular, we want to emphasize that ash or batteries of any sort should never be disposed of in your garbage or recycling carts. Improper disposal of these materials can lead to serious safety hazards, including fires.
Sincerely,
Southern Oregon Sanitation, Inc.
